Creator Spotlight: Nimble Obojima Actual Play

As part of the Nimble Creator's Spotlight program, I love sharing what other creators are doing! First up is this excellent actual play the Nimble Voyagers. Ran by the effervescent and fantastic GM Maia Wilson (https://beacons.ai/maiasgameroom)

Nimble Voyagers is a group of storytellers exploring rich worlds through the Nimble RPG system. Currently, we're diving into a full-length campaign set in the whimsical world of Obojima (inspired by Studio Ghibli).

Obojima Origins: The Root of Corruption

Five years apart, four paths converge again on the mysterious island of Obojima. As an ancient corruption stirs beneath the surface, old friends must confront their changed selves—and a creeping darkness that threatens to devour everything they once knew.

Set in a whimsical, spirit-rich world, Obojima Origins is a long-term actual play campaign exploring memory, transformation, and the weight of choice. While the story begins with an already released 6-session Children’s Arc—featuring the PCs at age 12—it’s not required viewing to enjoy the main Adult Arc, which kicks off the full campaign.

Obojima is a vast, enigmatic island where ancient spirits and vibrant magic coexist with remnants of forgotten, near-modern technology. From bustling First Age cities to tranquil forest villages and the corrupted eastern wetlands, the setting is a land of contrasts, whimsy, and untold mysteries. The story draws deep inspiration from the heartfelt adventures and themes of nature, change, and responsibility found in Studio Ghibli films.

Why Nimble?

Obojima was originally created for D&D 5E, but Nimble made the transition seamless. It lets me preserve the heart of the setting while streamlining gameplay and narrative pacing. I love how fast, tactical, and intuitive it is—Nimble supports the kind of storytelling I always wanted to do with 5E.

In the future, the Nimble Voyagers will return to short campaigns set in Eberron, each with its own distinct genre, tone, and theme, all fueled by creative storytelling and unforgettable adventures.

Thanks Maia and the rest for putting on this fantastic actual play, good luck—fingers crossed there are no TPKs! 💪
