New Monster Group: Drow

I've got a spicy new monster group for you all, THE DROW! These, more so than any other so far, stray from the monster builder chart in the GMG. They focus heavily on ambush tactics and disabling their foes, but survivability-wise, these boys are glass cannons. It's been fun trying to think about how different groups actually fight and how that shapes their stats and tactics (as opposed to just differently shaped bags of hit points).

These really focus on having a strong opening, debuffing the party, and controlling the battlefield in order to survive and win. None of them have armor, all of them have far below expected HP for their level and, deal less damage than expected. BUT when playing to their advantages, they can PUMP out damage and survive for longer than monsters that have twice as many hit points.

This monster group includes:

• 6 new monsters, from the lowly Scout to the Drow High Priestess (fyi, when she dies she actually turns into a DRIDER—pretty cool surprise).
• The Drow Arachnomancer who has a big battlefield shaping Web Wall ability that can completely divide the hero party and quickly change the shape of battle.
• 2 cool new thematic group abilities: Ambush Combatants & Cruel Poisoners (their damage also Poisons targets and their attacks roll DEE TWENTIES when striking Poisoned foes 💀 ).
• Short, actionable, lore.
• Tactical tips on how to lean in and really make your party suffer or ease up and give them a breather, mid combat (and without fudging dice rolls!).
• GM notes for TPKs. Drow (these Drow at least) love to defeated foes captive for their own nefarious ends. Thich means you can really feel free to push your party to their limits with these guys without fear of ending your years long campaign. Their capture could lead to some very interesting new adventures and escape scenarios!
